Pool Maintenance

Here is a handy guide to troubleshooting water clarity issues. Your pool/spa water should be crystal clear, not blue. Keep in mind that this is only a guide and the only way to know for sure is to have your water professionally tested.  You just need a small sample of your pool water, and it takes only a minute to test it!

Your sample should come from at least a foot below the water line and it's best if you get it to a testing center within an hour of taking it. If you have to run errands before you can come in, do not leave it in the car. Exposure to heat degrades the sample significantly. In the summer months if you get your sample in the morning before work, put it in your lunch bag or if possible take it in with you, but be sure that you fill the container to the top and close under the water. This keeps the air out and algae from starting to form.

Algae Green, Black, Yellow (Mustard), or Pink Algae

Treat with algaecide - Clear Results Poly Clear 60 for green; Clear Results Copper Clear and for black and Mustard algae use Clear Results Mustard Clear( Contact your dealer for directions) 

Superchlorinate - with a Chlorine Shock or for salt systems use a Non Chlorine Shock such as Clear Results Oxidizing Non Chlorine Shock. DO NOT use liquid chlorine in Non Salt Pool and if you use in a Salt pool make sure that your cell is disconnected from the power source to avoid any damages to the cell.
